The Board of Directors of Karate Newfoundland & Labrador, is pleased to announce that at a special general meeting of members held Sunday, May 24th in St. John’s, the bylaws of the organization were replaced in their entirety.

The purpose of the update was to:

• modernize governance to align with best practices, legislation, and partner expectations for Karate NL.
• Introduce clarity on document hierarchy, definitions, voting authority, and decision-making processes to streamline operations.
• Strengthen accountability through financial oversight, conflict-of-interest rules, and director qualification requirements.

Additional updates include electronic meetings, notice requirements, and compliance to protect the organization and reduce risks.
