The Board of Directors of Karate Newfoundland & Labrador, is providing official notice of a Special General Meeting (SGM) of the Members of the Corporation.

Please use this form to register in advance. Registering in advance allows Karate NL to confirm membership as well as aiding in the planning for the meeting. Registering is not required to attend the meeting though it is requested.


Purpose of the Meeting

The purpose of this Special General Meeting is to provide members with an opportunity to:

  • Review and discuss the proposed changes to the bylaws of Karate Newfoundland & Labrador; and
  • Consider and vote on a motion to replace the existing bylaws in their entirety with a new set of bylaws.

Due to the scope and extent of the proposed changes, the Governance Committee and the Board of Directors will be making a motion to replace the current bylaws rather than amend individual sections.


Voting Eligibility

  • The meeting is open to all members in good standing of Karate Newfoundland & Labrador.
  • Members in good standing who are 18 years of age and older are eligible to cast a vote at the meeting.
  • In accordance with the Corporation’s rules and the Corporations Act of Newfoundland & Labrador, a two‑thirds (⅔) majority of eligible votes cast is required for the motion to replace the bylaws to pass.
