Karate NL is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 Provincial Championships, scheduled for April 25th, 2026 at Ecole des Grands-Vent on Ridge Road in St. John’s. Athlete registration will close at the end of the day, April 11th, 2026.
Karate NL appreciates that this is shorter notice than would normally be given. That said, it has proven to be extremely difficult to find a suitable location to host this tournament. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
There are a few changes to be implemented in this tournament and the upcoming Provincial Championships.
1. For the April 25th competition, athletes under the age of 12, will perform their kata in tandem. That means that both red and blue athletes will walk onto the tatami at the same time and perform their kata together. The officials will then pick the winner using flags in the usual manner.
2. Karate Canada and the WKF have provided additional guidance on kumite equipment requirements which permits Karate NL to make changes to the previously announced equipment requirements. Please refer to the official bulletin for details.
The Google registration form for everyone, athletes, officials, coaches, and volunteers, can be accessed here.
Please refer to the detailed bulletin, attached, for information on required equipment, categories, eligibility requirements, and payment of fees. In an effort to reduce the amount of transaction fees that Karate NL incurs each year, we are going to request payment of fees by e-transfer to treasurer@karatenl.com for this tournament. Details are in the bulletin.
