Karate NL is seeking three passionate and community‑minded individuals to join its Board of Directors. We’re looking for people who can bring diverse perspectives to strengthen the organization’s governance and decision‑making.

These appointments will run until the next Annual General Meeting, scheduled for May/June 2026. As outlined in the Karate NL bylaws, the Board may appoint qualified individuals to vacant positions, with each appointee serving until the next AGM, at which point they may stand for election or choose to vacate the role.

The current vacancies include the position of Treasurer and two Director roles with the following responsibilities:

Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining full and accurate financial records of all receipts and disbursements, and ensuring all funds are deposited in the name of, or to the credit of, the Corporation. The Treasurer provides regular financial updates to the Board and presents an up‑to‑date financial report at the AGM. A strong background in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management is considered an asset.

Directors
Directors, together with the Officers, are responsible for the overall management of the Corporation’s affairs. The Board may assign Directors to oversee specific areas such as membership, tournaments, junior development, or other designated portfolios as needed.

Any individual who is nineteen (19) years of age or older, who has the legal capacity to contract, who has not been declared incapable by a court in Canada or any other country, and who is not bankrupt is eligible to hold a Board position.

A background in karate will be considered an asset but is not required.

Board meetings are generally held on the first Sunday of each month for 1-2 hours and can be attended in person or online. Between meetings, the workload is generally light though the role of Treasurer would entail working with the other officers to oversee the financial operations of the Corporation.

If you or someone you know is interested in contributing to the growth and governance of Karate NL, please reach out to president@karatenl.com for more information or to submit an expression of interest by February 27, 2026.

Our organization thrives on the dedication of volunteers, and your involvement makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for considering this opportunity to support Karate NL and our membership.
