Karate NL is pleased to pass along this message from our friends at Killick Coast Karate regarding the Randy Rix Clinic scheduled for later this month and to share their update regarding an addition to the clinic.

Killick Coast karate is very excited to announce that the weekend of September 27 & 28 we will be hosting a kumite clinic. We will be bringing Randy Rix as a special guest instructor. Randy is the current Karate Canada Junior National Kumite Coach. As posted in our brochure Randy was the Head Coach of Team New Brunswick from 2016 – 2023 (succeeded by Kate Campbell),  he is NCCP Karate Comp Dev certified,  holds licences to coach at the PKF and WKF competition level and has over 35 years of karate training experience. He has achieved his Go-dan in Chito-Ryu and has obtained the level of Shihan. Another fact of Randy’s Bio is he is the personal coach of the very successful Senior National team member, Kate Campbell.

As an added bonus Randy is bringing a special guest, Alec Hocquard. Alec is currently a member of the Karate Canada’s National Team. He is the 2024 Karate Canada National under 21 gold medalist (-84kg category), and was selected as the Junior  National Team Captain at the 2024 Junior Pan Ams in Brazil. Alec has been a National team member since 2017, placed 2nd at the 2022 Commonwealth Championships in Birmingham, England. Alec is currently ranked 42nd in the world for U21 athletes. Randy has designed a multitude of training plans for all athletic skill levels, from our more senior provincial athletes to those just beginning to spar.

Killick Coast Karate welcomes all members of KNL as well as any coaches who wish to attend and learn from the knowledge Randy possesses. This is a great opportunity for all athletes to come out and learn new techniques and strategies as well as hone up on your existing skill set. We are offering two different class subsets. The first class is for existing Provincial team members as well as athletes who are aspiring to try out for the provincial team. This class would encompass athletes, 11+ years of age, who compete at the advanced and elite categories at our KNL tournaments. The second class would include all those athletes who are beginner or intermediate skill level.

If anyone is interested or requires further information please feel free to reach out to us either through our Killick Coast Karate Facebook page or via our email address killickcoastkarate@gmail.com.
