The safety and well being of everyone is of paramount importance to Karate Newfoundland and Labrador. As such and as part of the regular review of its policy documents, Karate NL has adopted a new social media policy which is applicable to the organization, its members, and individuals.

This social media policy is an important addition to the set of KNL policies given the prevalence of social media in today’s modern world and the regularity with which social media is used to insult, degrade, harass, or provide other negative commentary. Having a standalone social media policy is important for these reasons but is also recommended by sport governance experts. For reference, we direct you to this article from Sport Law (https://sportlaw.ca/social-media-policies-principles-and-enforcement/) which stresses the importance of a standalone policy.

The Board of Directors of Karate NL would like to thank the good folks at SportNL for their assistance as this policy is developed from a template provided by SportNL and tailored for Karate NL.

Karate NL recommends everyone review this document carefully and keep it in mind when they engage in on line activity. The social media policy is available on our Resources page or by clicking here. Comments or questions regarding this new policy can be directed to the Vice-President of Karate NL at karatenl.vp@gmail.com.
